Kartikumar specialises in civil and quasi-criminal litigation. His areas of practice encompass a broad range of civil and commercial matters, such as contractual disputes, employment disputes, debt recovery, and tort claims.
He has an in-depth experience in probate and administration matters, landlord-tenant disputes, and land-related matters such as trespass to land and eviction of squatters. He is also well-versed in employment and industrial relations matters. In addition, he is highly experienced in handling quasi-criminal cases involving regulatory offences and statutory breaches.
Kartikumar also advises and represents one of Malaysia’s prominent universities in matters related to breaches of Fellowship Agreements.
Notable Matters Handled
- Represented a prominent university in Malaysia in the Subordinate Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal and successfully defended a claim filed by a former lecturer.
- Acted for and advised a foreign-owned company on the implementation of a retrenchment scheme involving both local and foreign workers. Successfully defended the said foreign-owned company in suits filed by the former employees in the Labour Court.
- Represented a Siamese-Buddhist Temple together with a Senior Partner of the firm in a matter before the High Court and Court of Appeal involving trespass to land and assessment of damages.
- Represented a financial institution together with a Senior Partner of the firm at the Court of Appeal in a foreclosure proceeding involving trust land.
- Represented a company owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated together with a Senior Partner of the firm at the High Court in a claim to recover sums unjustly enriched.
